The Unbreakable Bonds of Love: Reflecting on H4J’s Week 1
October 1, 2025
As we journey together through the H4J (Homes for Jesus) Season of Prayer & Worship, led by the inspiring Brother Jovenmarlo and Sister Alodia, we’re diving deep into the heart of what it means to be a community rooted in Christ’s love. This week, our focus has been on “The Bonds of Love,” drawing inspiration from Paul’s letter to Philemon – a short but powerful testament to the transformative power of love, grace, and partnership.
A Greeting of Grace and Peace
Paul begins his letter with a warm greeting:
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
— Philemon 1:3
This isn’t just a formality; it’s an invocation, a heartfelt desire for God’s favor and tranquility to rest upon Philemon and his household. It reminds us that true community is built on a foundation of grace – undeserved kindness – and peace – a sense of wholeness and harmony that only God can provide. How often do we intentionally offer grace and peace to those around us? It’s a challenge to consider.
Remembering Faithfulness and Praying for All
Paul also acknowledges Philemon’s faithfulness and extends his greetings to Apphia, Archippus, and the church that meets in their home (Philemon 1:1-2). This highlights the importance of recognizing and appreciating those who diligently serve God and open their homes to others. It’s a call to remember the faithful leaders and members of our own communities, lifting them up in prayer and expressing our gratitude for their dedication.
This week, we’ve been challenged to:
- Reach out to fellow members of our H4J community with messages of love and encouragement.
- Thank our leaders for their unwavering commitment.
- Pray specifically for each member of our community, lifting their needs before the Lord.
Love in Action: The Heart of the Matter
Ultimately, the bonds of love are not just about warm feelings or kind words; they’re about action. As 1 John 3:18 reminds us, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” This week, we’ve been encouraged to identify concrete ways to demonstrate God’s love to those around us – whether through acts of service, words of encouragement, or simply being present and attentive to their needs.
A Call to Dedicate Our Homes
As we continue this 40-day journey, let us remember the call to dedicate our homes to the glory of God, opening them as beacons of His love and havens for spiritual growth. Let our homes be places where grace and peace abound, where faithfulness is celebrated, and where love is put into action. Let us, with Brother Jovenmarlo and Sister Alodia’s unwavering dedication as our guide, deepen our commitment to H4J and welcome others into the embrace of Christ’s love.
What steps will *you* take this week to strengthen the bonds of love within your home and community?
